To end our Flight unit, our children, along with their big buddies brought kites from home to fly on our school field. All the children enjoyed the experience. A lot of problem solving, kite fixing, string untangling and even tree climbing (to rescue a kite) was required. I loved seeing a little kite one of our children had made, tied onto one of the larger kites to enable it to fly up high. Great problem solving by one of the big buddies! We had perfect kite flying weather and lots of fun was had by all.

Project Energize
We were lucky to spend time with Richard from Project Energize yesterday. He taught the children some fun games using fundamental movement skills. Helping the children gain the basic skills needed to move into any sport. Our children all love Richard coming in to teach them some new fun games.
Kite Making and Flying
The children had great fun making, then flying their own kites. These were made using plastic bags, skewers, coloured paper and string. There was a lot of excitement and pleasure gained from the experience, albeit with a few running repairs! The children ran and ran!

Flight
The
children are learning about flight. They
looked at what flies, including animals, aircraft and storybook
characters! They then followed
instructions to create their own paper plane.
They were the pilots of their plane and went to ‘Flight School’ to learn
to fly their plane through a variety of target holes. They then took it to the next level where
they took their plane outside and flew it in different parts of our
playground. Some of the children had to
problem solve to get their plane to fly how they wanted it to. Some slight modifications were needed and a
different launching technique was required.
Perceptual Motor Programme
Our
students love PMP, a movement programme designed to assist children to be ready
for formal learning. It includes; eye tracking, using memory, balance
activities, crawling, ball skills, body awareness, following instructions,
jumping and landing. Thank you to all
the parents who come and help our students by supporting and encouraging them
each week.
